Have you heard of Linkedln? It's one of Time mag's top 50 sites for this year. "It's a social network for business pros and ... gets respect from the corporate world. Employers use it to recruit new talent", people use it to find new business partners, and it's backed by some big name venture capitalists. Check it out. Good networking is at the core of a lot of successful businesses.

It's been around for quite a few years. Think I first signed up to it in 2004 or something. Lets face it, it's not reinventing the wheel. Employee yellow pages have been a staple component of knowledge management systems for years.

I'm on it but haven't looked at it in years. What am I missing there, that I'm not getting at Facebook?

I've been in LinkedIn for some time too. I'm in a different industry now than I used to be - so although I have testimonials from the past... they don't really apply for now (apart from the obvious Client Satisfaction of course). I haven't utilised the Q & A stuff on there either. I see that works for some.

But I'll keep dabbling in it - you never know. I'm not using it as a marketing tool... but the testimonials I receive will of course be copied and pasted for elsewhere in my endeavours.

The full list of their Top 50 websites is here.

Do some people do nothing else all day but browse sites to pick their 50 favourite ones?

I must admit there were one or two useful ones in there that I hadn't heard of.
