What I meant is that the healthy often end up paying for the unhealthy, which seems an odd way of going about things, but I shall relent before going off on a libertarian rant Cool

Isn't that true of many things?

The working members of the population pay for the unemployed...

Educated people pay for the uneducated...

The law-abiding members of society pay for the criminals...

etc. etc.

It sucks. Evil or Very Mad

Is it really so bad?

I am a huge supporter of free education for anyone who merits it. Education shouldn't be a privilege of the rich. I don't even like the idea of student loans, in my day you got a subsistence grant.

I don't think that sucked. I think Britain sucks now - which is why I choose not to live there any more.

I'm going to change my Will soon and leave anything that might be left to help someone get an education. Cool

I think it sucks when you find yourself paying for a lot of stuff you don't use, particularly when there's lots of people out there that could help to spread the burden but choose not to do so.

If I'm understanding your question correctly, in taxes.

I think more should be done to get the lazy off their butts and into work. Twisted Evil

Has it worked though? We've had free education now for what, 60/70 years? Yet we still have people that leave school without basic skills. You value more what you pay for.

I'm a bit frazzled so my argument probably isn't too coherent but if the aim is to get the poor educated then it really hasn't worked has it?
