Hello Greg and welcome to the forums. Wave

That looks to be a really useful link - thanks for sharing. I take it from your site that the writing of press releases - and everything that goes with that - is an area in which you specialise in. I thought your 'Virtual Press Office' looked to be a good idea for your clients.

Aaron

Hi Aaron,

Our core services are writing and distributing press releases. The Virtual Press Office will be online shortly, at present we are offering a 'white label' option, which works as an entirely integrated offshoot of a clients own website, with their own branding etc.

I hope anyone interested in this thread finds the advice articles useful. I should mention that the style of a press release can differ slightly between countries, it's best to look for an example in the country you intend to distribute the press release.

Only found this forum today after looking at your travel forum - both look good and very helpful Smile

Best
Greg

Whoops don't know what happened to my other post!

Anyway, Paul - the 80 new clients has risen to 100+ Laughing The reason why we have been getting so many is for two reasons;

1) January is always a busy time for owners, looking for marketing for new year.
2) We figure well on Google for good keywords, i.e rent my villa, rent my cottage advertise my holiday home etc.

In total I think we have approx 400 clients, with around 550 properties, when the new ad's / database is launched next week I'll be able to answer these kind of questions straight away, thats the trouble with manual systems, they are never accurate!

Good thinking, Darren... of course it's important for you that you not just only attract holidaymakers but also rental owners.

2nd on Google for rent my villa... well done! Clap Are you finding people are searching for these terms also?

I think you'll finding that moving to a more automated system will be more than worthwhile, Darren. I fully appreciate what you've been going through with your site as we used to do everything manually for every entry on our UKseries.com suite of sites. It takes a long time to get everything as you want it, but the time that's saved thereafter is well worth the effort. Are you almost there with it all now?

Yes Aaron, we get quite a few visitors with rent my villa, advertise my villa etc. The bonus of receiving say 10-15 enquiries a week about advertising is that you don't have to do any marketing.

BTW did you look a few results down, this thread is also on the 1st page now Laughing

When everything was static HTML pages I couldn't take anymore than 5 properties a week, due to the time involved designing each page, aswell as performing all of the other tasks, ie. book keeping etc.

I'm hoping with this new system, I'll be able to accept more clients, which has advantages and disadvantages. I wouldn't want to take on another 1,000 clients and not provide a reasonable enough services, so it's really balancing it all out.

Paul - yes, the database and PHP pages are all completed, just some tinkering around with the advertisement, making a few changes here and there, oh and sorting out the mod rewrite function out which Trev from the forum who has been a great help!

I'd rather spend the time now getting it right then changing it six months down the line!

All being well everything will be ready by next Tuesday / Wednesday.. then I can sit back and go back to spending Saturday afternoon watching Leeds Utd get beaten! Rolling Eyes

Two thoughts, first, google PR. There are zillions of PR information sites, free newsletters, etc. Some really good information.

Second, there are a couple of free PR posting sites - PRWeb.com is correct, I think. I don't recall the others. I've posted about a year ago and got calls and articles. Obvious question is why haven't I done it more frequently.

Have you thought about adding a recipical link exchange with other quality sites, it is a great way to improve your rankings in the search engines and additionally get more business to your site.

Just a thought! Very Happy

ohioadman, we do have a link exchange page(s) but I'm getting very fussy on what I get linked from Laughing and they have to be travel related websites.

Hi, firstly i have this great book called DIY PR, a whole book on creating free publicity and sample press releases.

Also there is another book i have called the Writers Handbook, it is big and yellow and is published every year. Inside it has the editors name of every UK magazine and paper, with their direct contact details and whether they will accept articles written by you.

With regards to creating some publicity for your holiday company it may be an idea to target a smaller audience through your pr... eg, if any of your holiday homes are near a big tennis academy or club- try sending a press release to the ACE magazine, or buy an advert in the classified in this magazine which will be much cheaper than in a big national paper and will still reach 60k people.

Hope this helps

Is there anything like this that you have for the companies at the states?

Hi, if you mean the writers handbook then i personally dont have a US version, but i am sure that you will be able to get one. In the writers handbook that i have it lists the US publishers and literary agents but not mag and press contacts which i guess that is what you need.

The UK version is editing by Barry Turner, but perhaps if you go to amazon.com there may be a US version.

The DIY PR is an American book so you should be able to get that one definitely.

I will see if i can find any publication with US press contacts in and let you know.
