I have had many years of experience as an accountant. I am not a CPA, but am tired of working for the corporate office. Has anyone had success in this field as a freelancer? How would one begin? Thanks for the suggestions.

I am thinking about going through the Universal Accounting program. Has anyone tried this with success?

Unless you are a chartered accountant you may struggle.

Start with a professional website and contact small business's for work. Christmas to April will be your most busy period if you follow this route.

Is Christmas To April the best period for accountants because of the tax season, or a combination of year ends and tax?

Don't even think about selling your services as an accountant unless you're qualified. You might manage to get business as a book-keeper. And whatever you do, stay away from tax unless you're a specialist and/or qualifed.

But if you're an accountant, you'd know all that already so sorry for wasting your time.
