I'd like to start using LinkedIn more.

I happen to have accounts for both my personal/work email address and a non-personal 'office' work address. It's the latter that has more contacts and that I would like to work with.

Can I remove the personal account, "rename" the office account so it uses my personal address, and then work from there? ie. delete an account under one email address, and then move an existing account to that address. (as I understand it, there's no way of 'merging' two accounts together...)

Thanks.

If I've got the right end of the stick, you want to move your contacts from one account to the other?

Kind of, yes...

I want to completely remove paul@........... as an account.

And then I want to use dedicate@........ (which I've used more) and change it to paul@........

Basically, because that's the more established of the two LinkedIn accounts but I want to use a more personal address (and the one that most people will have as my point of contact for what I'm wanting to use LinkedIn for...)

Paul

Surely you can update the email address on your more active account?

You can use multiple email addresses for each Linkedn account

As for moving your LinkedIn followers from one LinkedIn account to another, which I think is what you're suggesting
Don't know if there is any merge facility
I'd use it as an opportunity to directly contact them and update them on what you're up to & invite them to follow you on the other account

There is a way to merge accounts. I know that because I've done it - or, more truthfully, had it done for me. I joined after someone invited me. Then I forgot all about it and joined again much later when someone else invited me. Then I got into a big muddle and passed it all on to Dave to deal with it.

I'll get him to reply here...

Sadly, "merging" involved copying the contacts from one account to the other, then deleting the old account. There wasn't any means of automatically merging them. From memory (it was some time ago) I'm pretty sure that's what LinkedIn themselves said you had to do.

one of the strengths of LinkedIn in their Q&A
fire a question and see what comes back - if you can't get the answer through a Google search

Just got active in the Answers section
Decided to see if it had an RSS feed and bingo it has
So all I've done is go to LinkedIn Answers, fed the relevant categories via RSS into my Google Reader and I check each day

I'd also add there's a category for Business Travel http://www.linkedin.com/answers for Aaron the Aardvark...

i check the relevant LinkedIn questions in Google Reader each day
so far I've answered about 25 and been voted "best answer" or "good answer" in 4
i'll keep going as it takes little time and it enhances my LinkedIn profilie for little effort plus adds some good connections

However I am also keeping one eye on Quora which is a new Q&A app, mirroring the LinkedIn Q&A
