I just happened to stumble upon the Twitter account of someone who had run 50 marathons in 56 days, running from Amsterdam to Barcelona in the process. I clicked through to his blog and on there, there was a blog post entitled "Motivating Videos".

They're all running related, but all quite different and truly inspirational.

Which one gives you the most inspiration and do you think we can learn from sport with regards to motivation in general and motivation when it comes to business?

For me, I think it's the last one that inspires me the most because it shows that achieving goals is something that really anybody can do, and it's not just restricted to the elite few.

What a great idea for a post, and the videos were really good to watch too - all wonderfully inspirational.

SPOILER

I liked the second one best, because the guy was doing so well and then you thought that he just might not win. And then he found that little bit extra somehow.

The 'message' I learned from it is not to give up and to push that little bit harder towards your goal. You can still be a winner even if someone did overtake you at some stage.

I recently presented to the employees of a clients business
I used the example of Lance Armstrongs Blue Train - the US Postal team in the Tour de France to illustrate teamwork and being market leaders.
As a single unit of 9 they controlled the peleton and 8 of them rode simply to support Lance in winning 7 times.

Same model applies to Mark Cavendish in being the best sprinter in the world. His team protect him until 100m from the line.
