Guess so. Obviously it's just this guys theory so it might be complete rubbish. The comScore figures are quite shocking though.

Here's the graph/chart for those who haven't followed the link:

I suppose the other pertinent point is what people are doing with their time on each of these sites. Are they just playing games? Are they doing business? Are they just chatting with friends?

Yes that's very true. Whilst there is the issue of having user data to target ads, I'm really not convinced about the ability of social media advertising to work. Click through rates are awful for ads on Facebook for instance.

Maybe everything depends on the target audience...

Care to elaborate on precisely what you're saying, Maria...?

I gave it another go and did a page for business but it seems like i am talking to myself.

The graphic showing pinterest is interesting as that seems to be gathering momentum well now but not Google+

G+ is one year old now. What are your thoughts after it has had a year to bed in?

Well, after a lot of initital fuss, I do get the feeling it has died a death.

I think the interface is not bad, and it's relatively user friendly, but it's suffering in one major regard: it wasn't first.

I notice there are lots of attempts to increase awareness - the ability to add people to your circles from Gmail exchanges, for instance - but I don't get the feeling it's making sufficient in-roads upon Facebook at the moment, and it seems they've got a huge mountain to climb if that's something they want to achieve.

I quite like the interface but the only thing that makes me visit is the feeling that I need to and not that I want to.

Is Google+ ultimately going to be inevitable?

There was a user survey done recently showing that Google+ users are most satisfied with the site. Facebook came last.

http://technorati.com/social-media/article/google-users-happier-than-facebook-users/

Now it could be that the only people using G+ are the devotees so they're bound to be happy with it, whereas Facebook has pretty much everyone using it so it's more likely to have dissenting voices, but still, an interesting result.

Yes, very interesting.

I wonder if Timeline has something to answer for there?

I'd love to use Google+ more than I do, but one of the big problems (I feel) is that a lot of other people just aren't there. Google may be eroding at Facebook's share slightly, I don't know, but - if it is doing so - it seems to be very slowly.
