Do you have any New Year resolutions when it comes to your business activities (or non-busines for that matter)?

Any plans to seek a new job, go on a course, improve your time management, be more efficient...?

Or something altogether different perhaps?

Well I've spent 2010 gaining awareness, networking, developing a service that people want, partnering with the right tools & providers. All the nice things but still short of the desired number of clients

2011 is all about building a large list of prospects. I've set a target number of calls to make each day. It's just a numbers game after all.
Gotta be a lot more ruthless about the use of my time.

My kids will be climbing the last of their 214 Lake District mountains all being well. Big party on the top of Lingmoor Fell to finish. Clap

As always (but it never happens) not to start so many new things and concentrate harder on fewer, more worthwhile, projects.

Professionally I'm going to try and be a little more politically astute, as it's hard to get projects moving without it.

Personally I'm going to sort out my diet to lose some weight before the Granfondo Pantani in June.

Focus on growing my main income earner, too diffused and ineffective in 2011 chasing chimeras. More time for the kids and family. 2012 will be the best year of their childhood yet. Happy new year, folks!

No resolutions from me. I've never kept any I've made in previous years. I'm on holiday when it comes to the few days around New Year.

Yeah, my resolution is not to do anything very much other than have fun in the first week of January. I should probably manage that one.

As usual, I'll be looking to be more efficient.

Focus more on the things that make money (and the ones that save money). I already feel like I work all hours (in some shape or form) - now it's time to work more wisely.

I'd like to focus on time off work too, be that time with family or exercise. I've another marathon planned for next year, and this one's going to be tough (hilly) so will have to start putting in some serious work for that soon...

The diet was a success last year as I got down to my lightest ever weight. Being more political not so much, hence why I moved jobs on Monday.

Next year I'll be doing a whole lot of blogging, plus new job, new house etc. so should be busy.

Hmmm... well, well done.

If I'm allowed to say this, I don't think they do a very good job of telling the man in the street what they do.

On the homepage:

Quote:
Process Excellence Network is an online community for finding Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma information, discussing ideas, and sharing Process Excellence best practices.

At this point I'd never heard of Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma (or indeed Process Excellence) so that meant very little to me.

Clicked on the 'About Us' page and was equally turned off by:

Quote:
Process Excellence Network: A division of IQPC, (formerly known as Six Sigma IQ) provides access to a treasure chest of relevant content for Process Excellence practitioners.

Providing critical knowledge on the development of Process Excellence including Business Process Management (BPM), Lean, Change Management, Operational Excellence, Six Sigma, Risk Management, Customer Experience and more, we provide the forum where key industry experts and organizations share their experience, knowledge and tools, and your practitioner peers connect with one another all over the world, both face-to-face and online. blah blah blah

...but maybe it's just me. Confused

Maybe it would mean more to whoever it is they're targeting...

Lean and all that is quite a specialised branch of management. Toyota for instance are big on lean. General Electric are big on Six Sigma. They're all basically ways of making what we do as efficient as possible. So those with an interest in that topic will know what it's about. Don't think they're really going after the man in the street Smile

Fair enough.

So Process Excellence Network is just providing an environment where people with an interest in this stuff can get together and share information... is that right? And, if so, how do they make their money?
