A friend of mine recently had a stack of raffle tickets sent to her (unsolicited) by some charity. In the small print, there was a statement that if she did not return them - sold or unsold - she would be charged for them!!! Shocked Surely this is not legal??

She sent them back 'return to sender' and today once again received them in the post!!

I told her just to bin them Confused

Report them to the DSA and the charity commission, they are probably fraudsters.

Assuming they weren't sent registered post then theres no way they can claim she actually received them. To be honest it sounds like a scam as I strongly suspect the "charity" involved isn't registered with the Charities Commission. If they are registered it would be interesting to know who they are so they can be publically named & shamed - including the full address that they come from.

If she has the time, it might also be worth reporting them to the Charities Commission as I doubt they look very favourably on this kind of thing. There may even be a case of trying to extort money by threats or however it would be legally worded.

She could always return them with an invoice for her time and trouble and threaten to take them to court if they don't pay up Smile
